Industrial Ethernet Made Simple
Ethernet is quickly emerging as the new de facto standard for the factory floor. However there is still confusion and concerns regarding the benefits, reliability and maintainability of this technology. This seminar will breakdown Industrial Ethernet starting with the basics then builds from there to help simplify this communication technology for the audience.
Just a few of the topics covered in this class:
- Basic Ethernet Terminology
- Advantages of Ethernet over Fieldbus
- Industrial Ethernet vs. Commercial Ethernet
- Networking Architectures
- Ethernet Protocols
- Supporting Redundancy, Safety and Motion Control
Schedule:
October 5, 2010 - Germantown
November 16, 2010 - Appleton
PLCs Made Simple
A common misperception is that hard-wired control systems (e.g. cube relays, timers, counters, “green boards”) are simpler to implement and more cost effective than Micro PLCs or Programmable Relays. Designed for individuals who have limited or no experience working with PLCs, this seminar will focus on explaining the basics of PLC technology and how these solutions can replace traditional hardwired control systems to increase flexibility while saving time, money, and panel space.
PLC Made Simple will cover the following topics:
- Introduction to PLC Components and Their Basic Operation
- Introduction to Intelligent Programmable Relays and Their Basic Operation
- Hands-on Setup, Configuration and Programming Examples/Exercises
- Cost Benefit Analysis of Programmable vs. Hardwired Controls
Schedule:
December 7, 2010 - Germantown
Modular Safety Systems
Learn how to simplify your safety system through the use of a Modular Safety System (MSS) in place of traditional Safety Relays. This hands-on training session will take you through the advantages of utilizing Modular Safety Systems advanced features to simplify wiring, save cabinet space and trouble-shoot the safety system.
Topics to be covered:
- Modular Safety Systems Overview
- Modular Safety Systems vs. Safety Relays
- Wiring Application Examples (CAT/SIL)
- Hands-On Modular Safety System Parameterization Labs
Schedule: Look for new dates in the future.
Motion Made Simple
Motion Control is becoming a critical technology as mechanical solutions can not meet the increased modularity, flexibility, speed and precision requirements needed to meet customer demands. This seminar will help familiarize the audience with the basics of motion control technology and its application.
Just a few of the topics covered in this class:
- Basic Motion Terminology
- Types of Motion
- The Mechanics of Motion Systems
- Speed Transmission Devices
- Servo Motors
- Motion Controllers & Drives
- Sizing Drives & Motors
- Application Example Project
Schedule:
September 14, 2010 - Germantown
Variable Frequency Drives: What You Should Know Before Your Next Application
Modern day Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) technology has remained roughly the same for the past 10 years with the benefits of these devices well documented. However, performance improvements continue to be made along with changes to industry standards often causing the subpar application of VFDs. This seminar will address some of the common and not so common mistakes when applying VFDs, industry standards and technology advancements that you need to consider before your next application.
This seminar will cover topics such as:
- The proper sizing of VFDs
- Proper application of VFDs
- Environmental conditions
- Power quality
- Utility rebate programs
Schedule:
New dates coming soon!
Yaskawa V1000 VFD Test-Drive
The Yaskawa V1000 Test-Drive is an excellent hands-on opportunity to learn about this line of high performance current vector microdrives. The V1000 is up to 30% smaller than comparable drives and offered from 1/8 to 25 HP in a NEMA 1 or NEMA 4X package.
Each attendee will have hands-on access to a V1000 demo unit which will be used to cover topics such as:
- Key features/functions
- Specifications and hardware design
- Electrical installation and wiring
- Start-up programming & operation using digital LED and DriveWorksEZ software
- Network communication options and setup
- Troubleshooting using alarms, faults and errors codes
- Safety Cat. 3, Stop Cat. 0 support
- Maintenance and drive replacement parts
