Careers - Industrial Controls Specialist

Position Title: Industrial Controls Specialist

Status: Full-Time/Exempt

Reports To: Director Business Development

Summary/Purpose:

Take ownership in the growth of the industrial control products (e.g. circuit breakers, motor/soft starters, relays, contactors, terminal blocks, pilot devices, power supplies, fuses, panels boards, MCC,) by developing and implementing successful sales and marketing programs and providing both pre-sales and post-sales support for these products.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement marketing campaigns and sales strategies that target specific industries/ applications with the appropriate control solutions.
  2. Regularly spend time with Account Managers visiting customers, meeting with prospects, to support the sales process which includes product demonstrations/presentations, generating bill of materials, pricing, competitive analysis and post sales support.
  3. Develop and maintain close business relationships with key vendor personnel – Control Specialist, Account Management, and Product/Marketing Managers. Attend key meetings, such as product updates and training.
  4. Assist in the identification, research and acquisition of additional complimentary control product lines.
  5. Work closely with other PCC departments (Customer Service, Applications Engineers and Management) to foster teamwork, exceed customer expectations and continuous improvement efforts.
  6. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of industrial control products, service applications and best practices and transfer this knowledge across the PCC organization with internal product training/product updates.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements/Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
This position requires a solid understanding of industrial control solutions (e.g. circuit breakers, motor/soft starters, relays, contactors, terminal blocks, pilot devices, power supplies, fuses, panelboards, MCC etc.) and their proper application. Experience promoting and selling automation and controls products are a plus but not required to be considered. A Bachelors degree in engineering is desired. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must.

Language Skills:
Must be able to communicate effectively with client personnel and employees at all organizational levels and develop effective working relationships with staff and a network of resources. This includes making presentations, facilitating meetings, and presenting timely reports.

Reasoning Ability:
Individual should be able to exercise sound judgment, be able to plan, be well organized, have excellent oral and written communication skills, work well under pressure, take initiative, and be flexible and cooperative.

Physical Demands:
Position requires the ability to sit for long periods of time. Travel via a car is expected approximately 30-50% of the time. Some walking, standing, bending and carrying of demonstration equipment is required.

Computer Skills:Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products is required – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Work Environment:
Normal office environment and standard hours with occasional overtime required. Travel via automobile is required 30-50% of the time.
