PROFIBUS with PROFIsafe Profile. PROFIsafe is a profile for PROFIBUS and PROFINET certified according to IEC 61508. With SIL 3 (Safety Integrity Level) or Category 4 according to EN 954-1, PROFIsafe fulfills the highest safety requirements of the process and manufacturing industry. Both safety-oriented and standard communication are possible via one and the same cable.

Fail-safe Controllers

Automation & machine safety integrated in a single controller. A failsafe, redundant SIMATIC system is based upon a standard CPU S7-414H or S7-417H. For use as failsafe controller, the user can expand the standard CPU to include safety-relevant functions with the S7-F Systems software package. The CPUs can be expanded with ET 200M and/or ET 200S signal modules. PROFIBUS DP with PROFIsafe profile is used for communication between two failsafe CPUs or between one failsafe CPU and its failsafe I/O.

Modular Fail-safe I/O

The ET 200M I/O system – The modular expansion system. The ET 200M failsafe input and output modules are used for distributed expansion of the SIMATIC S7-400FH.An ET 200M station may contain both failsafe and standard input and output modules.


The ET 200S I/O system – The bit-granular expansion system. In addition to the failsafe input and output modules, ET 200S products include failsafe motor starters, power modules, contact multipliers and interface modules. The ET 200S is used for distributed expansion of the SIMATIC S7-400F/FH.

An ET 200S station can contain both failsafe and standard input and output modules. Compliance with SIL 3/Category 4 is attained through the use of a type PM-E 24 V DC/120/230 V AC power module. SIL3/Category 4 is attained by using the type PM-E 24 V DC/120/230 V AC power module in additional use with the failsafe I/O modules in the voltage group of the ET 200S.

Block fail-safe ET 200eco - high degree of protection.The safety digital block peripheral device ET 200eco is for the distributed expansion of the safety S7 controllers. The high degree of protection IP65/67 enables cabinetless distribution. It is characterized by very easy handling and installation as well as by its economic efficiency.
Modular Fail-safe Motor Starter

SIMATIC ET 200S. In case of an emergency stop, the motor is controlled by the motor starter contactor. If the contactor fails, an overvoltage release which trips the integrated power breaker is actuated via a redundant disconnection facility. Thanks to the integrated safety disconnection, the safety motor starter increases plant availability to a considerable degree.

2.The use of Safety Motor Starter Solution PROFIsafe facilitates more complex, safety-oriented applications which are implemented at the control level.

Safety Drive Systems
Modular fail-safe Drive. SIMATIC ET 200S FC frequency converter offers integrated safety functions. These are integrated into the drive as autonomous functions and can either be controlled via terminals or a stan- dard bus with safety-related communications.
 
The fact that the integrated functions are completely implemented electronically and the direct system access to all of the safety- relevant process signals allows reliable and extremely short response times.
 
All of the safety-related functions are in accordance with Category 3 in compliance with EN954-1 and SIL 2 in compliance with IEC61508.
Low Voltage Inverter. The SINAMICS G120 frequency inverter for the 0.37 to 90 kW output range has a modular structure and is equipped with a multitude of new functions, setting a new standard in safety, communication capability and energy recovery for general performance inverters.
Safety Devices
SIGUARD Light Curtains/Grid Optical Sensors. Light curtains and light grids are active, optoelectronic protective devices. They serve as zone protection devices in the field of automation. It prevents people from entering/coming into contact with unprotected areas (e.g. finger and hand protection, access prevention or horizontal danger zone protection).
Optical Laser Scanners. The SIGUARD laser scanner LS4 is an optical distance sensor. The device periodically transmits light pulses within a working range of 190°. If these pulses hit an obstacle or a person, the light is reflected, received by the laser scanner and evaluated. The scanner calculates the exact coordinates of the "seen" obstacle from the light propagation time. If the obstacle/person is within the programmed zone, the scanner initiates a safe shutdown.
