Did
You Know That with Most Power Supplies, Fuses & Circuit
Breakers Are Inadequate For Protecting Individual 24VDC
Load Circuits?
|

|
|
In a typical design, a 20 amp 24VDC power supply with
multiple load circuits would be protected by 6 amp circuit
breakers for each branch. Circuit Breakers have a tolerance
of 5 to 14 times the rated current meaning it would take
between 30 and 84 amps to trip. A power supplies built
in electronic short circuit protection will disable the
output and will cause a loss of power in all of the load
circuits that are fed by this power supply.

The Siemens Sitop Select Electronic Diagnosis Module is
designed to protect the power supply and only disable
the individual load circuit where the problem occurs and
will display which circuit is the problem.

Some of the Features Include:
- Four circuits (outputs) per module
- Each output can be individually set between 2 and
10 A using a potentiometer
- An LED for each output immediately indicates the affected
circuit
- Time-delay start up of each output is possible to
reduce inrush current
- Potential-free common signal contact for fault diagnosis
- Several modules can be connected to a single power
supply
- Easy and fast installation using standard DIN rail
- Exchangeable FK2 blade-type fuses as back up protection
in case electronic protection fails
